GAS FIRED HUMIDIFIER SETS NEW STANDARDS
A new generation of atmospheric steam boilers has been developed by Vapac Humidity Control for a wide range of humidification applications. This latest offering from the Eaton-Williams stable is the only UK designed and manufactured humidifier of its type available and offers a patented device that with features that benefit both installers and operators.

"Eaton-Williams new range of gas fired humidifiers is a significant breakthrough for Vapac. It places a marker down for the industry to match or even better the efficiency and NOx levels that have been measured and verified by an independent test house" comments Roger Palamarczuk, National sales Manager for Vapac Humidity Control.

"Gas is far more cost-effective than electricity. Not only are there benefits in terms of running costs but its timing is highly appropriate as it follows in the footsteps of the Climate Change Levy."

"The benefits of a high efficiency burner combined with those of and low flue temperatures obtained with the new system are highly attractive. It will ensure that it will be specified by building owners and engineers who are to reduce costs and address environmental issues without sacrificing technological benefits, performance and reliability."

The gas fired humidifier has the new VapaNet control system, making it the only Open Architecture LON mark device on the market today. Each unit is factory set for the site conditions prior to dispatch, if changes occur the configuration can be easily changed at commissioning. This open approach to control allows all units to be configured to accept any of eight different external input signals. It also allows for up to 10 units to be connected as master slave to give a potential 850kg/hr, which can feed twenty 42.5 kg/hr individual Steam Pipes or Multipipes. The master would be proportional and all slaves would operate as On/Off devices just connected with a pair of wires.

An optional alpha numeric display can be added as a permanent feature or temporarily plugged in for the service engineer to interrogate the units to fault find and / or change internal configurations. The standard display informs the owner of the system operation without the need for the Alpha Numeric.

The nine capacity steps, from 6 to 85kg/hr in 10 kg increments makes Vapac's offering the largest range of gas fired humidifiers available in Europe. Each capacity is available in On/Off and Proportional control. The Proportional band is from 20% to 100% and can be driven from external proportional signals or connected to a Vapac room or duct mounted sensor.

The whole range has been independently certified by Gas Tech in Holland to conform to all European gas regulations. Each humidifier is supplied pre-set for two bands of European gases E and LL. The Calorific Values for these gases range from 30.98 to 45.28 Gross (Hs) The design delivers the lowest NOx levels currently, 36ppm at maximum output. An efficiency level of 95% NET at maximum capacity has been achieved with the burner and heat exchanger design.

The humidifier has an IP 20 rating and is designed for plant room location. All sizes are available as balanced flues and can be configured for Type B 'Open Flue' and Type C 'Room Sealed Concentric Flue' systems. Vapac will be offering a competitive range of flues as optional accessories to help the contractor source all their requirements from one supplier.

The maximum power rating of the largest boiler is within the domestic CORGI registration guidelines, which makes it available to the vast majority of service and installation engineers.

Vapac's gas fired humidifier is capable of operating with a range of water qualities from raw mains to de-mineralised or de-ionised. It generates steam at atmospheric pressure for introduction into space, utilising a Room Distribution Unit or ducted, with duct pressures ranging from -2000 to +2000 Pa.

It is advisable the humidifier is fed with treated water to reduce the possibility of calcium build up in the heat exchanger.

Also available will be a range of water treatment solutions to suit the prevailing site conditions, typically water softeners, silicone filters and de-mineralisation plants.

Designed to be compact the new units have a small footprint of 450mmx1115mmx1387mm making it the smallest available in the UK. The 6 to 30kg range uses a single 54mm-steam outlet and the 40 to 85 kg range feeds two 54mm-steam connection. Any of the standard Vapac single steam pipes or the cartridge type Multipipe system can be connected using either flexible hose or stainless steel tube with mechanical joints.

To coincide with the launch Vapac is offering a Humidifier Health Check for any existing system, steam or spray, regardless of manufacturer. A site-specific survey will be carried out and a report and recommendation issued to the client completely free of charge. This will allow an unbiased appraisal of the humidification system and its effectiveness within the air-conditioned building.

"This is a cost effect way for building owners and occupiers to evaluate the effectiveness of the humidification system and possibly upgrade it for a more energy efficient alternative that may not have been available when the present system was installed. It cost nothing to check it out and could save a substantial amount annually" says Roger Palamarczuk.
